Youth Director - Christ Episcopal Church – Bloomfield/Glen Ridge, 74 Park Avenue, Glen Ridge, NJ 07028 – 973.743.5911

Christ Episcopal Church is a multi-cultural congregation on the border between Glen Ridge and Bloomfield, New Jersey. Located just a few blocks from two public high schools and a college, we are well situated to welcome and engage young people in Christian worship, formation, mission and fellowship.

We are seeking a part-time Youth Director to continue to build upon our church’s ministry with youth in grades 7 – 12. This position is an instrument for the unifying presence of Christ in the midst of a community that is diverse in every way. The position reports to the Rector and works with the parish Youth Ministry Team.

General Responsibilities
- Respond to the spiritual and social needs of the youth in the community with an inviting, inclusive approach.
- Plan and execute a multifaceted program for youth, which includes recruiting members, Christian formation, worship, mission/outreach and fellowship.
- Actively build pastoral relationships with the youth.
- Recruit, train and supervise parish volunteers to assist with the youth program.
- Maintain constant and effective communication with the youth, their families, and the larger congregation.
- Serve as an advocate for youth in the parish.
Qualifications/Expectations
- Ability to communicate the good news of the Christian faith with energy, warmth, humor, and effectiveness.
- Willingness to commit to the vision and mission of the Church as it is expressed in the Episcopal Diocese of Newark and Christ Church – Bloomfield/Glen Ridge. This includes a commitment to attend our worship services at least twice each month and to support and participate in diocesan-sponsored youth events.
- Experience in gaining the respect of youth, parents and adult volunteers.
- Ability to work independently and proactively without close supervision.
- Demonstrated strong skills in communication, administration and organization.
- Availability to meet bi-weekly with the Rector and monthly with the Youth Ministry Team.

Compensation
- Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
- A flexible work schedule of approximately 15 hours/week will including evenings and weekends.

Parish Administrator - All Saints Episcopal Parish, 707 Washington Street, Hoboken, NJ 07030

Position Summary
As the first point of contact for visitors, callers or e-mails to the church, the Parish Administrator is the face of hospitality for the congregation. Working closely with and under the supervision of the Rector, the Parish Administrator provides administrative and facility services for the Parish. Specifically, duties include supervising and performing office functions, managing the Parish membership database, preparing and editing church publications, assisting with maintenance of the church web site, performing building management duties. This position requires independent judgment to plan, prioritize and organize a diversified workload in a fast paced environment.

Qualifications
- BA or BS degree, preferably in Business Administration or Accounting
- Ability to plan, prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a dynamic work environment while juggling multiple competing tasks and demands.
- Self-motivated and able to follow through on assignments or situations in a flexible manner.
- Must have effective written and oral communication skills, including organizational and record keeping skills.
- Able to work cooperatively in a team environment, while being an example setter in reaching out to assist staff and committee groups within the Parish organizations that includes the Day School and Jubilee Center.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (MS Word and Excel required) and accounting systems such as QuickBooks, Pay-Check (payroll), ACS (stewardship), and Gift-Works systems. Experience in non-profit accounting a plus.
- Must have high level of interpersonal skill to handle sensitive and confidential situations. Position requires demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

General
- Support the Rector and professional staff, including Wardens, Vestry and Parish volunteers and committees needing guidance and assistance.
- Manage and maintain parish membership database, and other church record books (baptism, confirmation, marriages and deaths). Prepare acknowledgement letters for special cash and non-cash contributions tied these events.
- Take on project management roles or join teams that support Parish programs.
- Support and assist committee work of Parish ministries, such as functioning as scribe for meeting minutes or follow-up action items.
- Attend staff meetings, staff retreats, and Parish, Day School and Jubilee Center meetings as requested.
- Assist Rector in utilizing the skills and gifts of volunteers throughout the congregation to acknowledge and promote their interest in service.

Communication
-Update seasonal schedules (church calendar), phone recording, web-site, and preparation requirements for Christmas, Lent, Advent and summer schedules.
- Maintain employment records and job descriptions.
- Obtain, assemble, prepare and edit information for various parish publications, including weekly worship bulletins and announcements, and other communications. Coordinate parish mailings, receiving and distributing mail.
- Maintain church calendar and communicate meeting or event reminders to Rector, parish staff, including Board chairs and committee members (Jubilee, School and Vestry).

Office Management
- Oversee finances such as reconciliation of weekly collection, bank deposits and monthly bank reconciliations tied to budget preparation and annual financial reports. Reporting must be accurate and published in a timely manner.
- Process payroll information for ADP input, incoming bills and preparation for vouchers for Rector/Treasurer signatures.
- Lead and execute the property committee, reporting on maintenance needs and options for building repairs and services. Work with repair staff and contractors to obtain bids, handle maintenance schedules, and requests.
- Procure and maintain inventory of office supplies, while tracking spending for budget input and updating.
- Purchase or lease office equipment, along with appropriate service contracts and budget replacement needs; copiers, postage machines, printers and computers. Provide training to employees and volunteers as needed. Maintain equipment lists including location of each unit or dates of in-service/out-service. Also, point of contact for equipment and technology issues (hardware and software).
- Document and update Office Procedures manual.

Organist - Part time: St. Luke's, 500 Hillcrest Blvd., Phillipsburg

Organist - St. Luke’s, Phillipsburg is searching for a part-time Organist to lead the congregation in music on Sundays [10:00 AM].The church has an Allen Digital Organ with 30 racks and 2 manuals, plus a piano.Interested candidates should be willing to help work with adult choir and children’s choir with Sunday rehearsals over time as they develop.  Organist should also have familiarity with the 1982 Hymnal, conducting a choir, and good organizational skills. Compensation will be $125 per Sunday. Our organist always receives first right of refusal for weddings and funerals.
