The Mary G. Rankin Scholarship Fund was established in 1980 by the Episcopal Church Women in memory of this former ECW member. She was a faithful member of the Executive Board for many years, both as Assistant Treasurer and Treasurer. She made history in the late ‘60's by being the first woman to be elected to the Diocesan Council. Mary was also a pioneer at her home parish, St. George's Church, Maplewood, where she was the first woman in the diocese to serve as a parish warden.

Education of young people was a high priority to her. Therefore, it was most fitting that this scholarship fund was made in her name. The board annually awards two scholarships; more in those years when giving to the fund increased.

Applications are mailed to congregations each in late winter with a submission date of April 1. For additional information, contact Mrs. Dorothy Meyers, 53 East Gramercy Place, Glen Rock, New Jersey 07452.
